| Since 1984 World Thrust has been helping local churches make a more
personal, powerful, strategic impact in fulfilling Christ's Great
Commission to "go and make disciples of all nations". We are not a 'Sending " agency for full time missionaries like Wycliffe Bible Translators or New Tribes (though we do work with these and other effective missions agencies). Nor are we a funding channel for mission agencies (though we do help churches develop their own strategies for giving to world missions). We are a "catalyst" ministry working to help pastors and lay leaders help their own churches understand, connect with, and participate in what God is doing around the world. We do this by building bridges: information bridges, communication bridges and transportation bridges. Information BridgesInformation Bridges (in God's own Words) help people understand why and how important "world evangelization" is to God, which areas of the world have access to the gospel and which ones don't, and how we can personally share in taking he Good News to the whole world. Participants also learn where to find the money without hurting existing ministries.Communication BridgesCommunication Bridges tie the front line troops to the home front support team on a first name basis. We help individual churches develop personal relationships with specific missionaries and specific projects in other parts of the world. Missionaries become real faces and names and personalities.Transportation BridgesTransportation bridges bring people to the place where "foreign" missions become "familiar" missions. When we see and experience a situation first hand we feel vastly more connected than we do through words and pictures alone. By taking church work teams overseas for two week projects, World Thrust helps individual churches see the impact they're having - and feel that impact for a lifetime. |
